I found an image of an actual note depicted on the badge. I have been looking for one for a while.
Although dated a bit later, this note is of a similar design. The actual note is worth around £1,500.

National Bank of Scotland enamel cufflinks.
These were made in France ca1880.

A pair of these appeared recently, offered as cufflinks. They have a fastener similar to that on other enamel banknotes, notably the pair of enamel US banknotes which were also seen recently.

As more enamel banknotes are recorded, we learn more about them.
They appear to have been used as brooches/badges, cuff links and pendants, though the examples seen as pendants may have been later modifications of brooches.

A badly damaged example turned up recently, just this one pic. It may have been on ebay or somewhere similar.
