Lavery £50 notes from the early 1960's are scarce so the mulberry variety could be considered as rare. Attached is an example of a £50 Lavery note with mulberry serials.

I have some mulberry notes in my collection. Always liked them. The dark ones are very attractive. Never seen a £50 or £100 for sale. Do they ever get offered?

They do turn up from time to time and in some cases not even identified as the mulberry variety :)

Just spotted an example of another £50 date , 20th November 1963, with mulberry serials. An example with red serials is attached by way of contrast.

That 1963 fifty in interesting. Has this date been seen before for the dark serial numbers? I think it is not recorded as such.

Yes, it seems that this date has not been reported previously with mulberry serials.

Have to get the boss to add it to the Mulberry page on the website!

An example of a Lavery £50 note with mulberry serials was offered for sale this week at DNW. The note, part of the Gus MacAmhlaigh Collection, achieved a hammer price of £500.

That's a very good result for the note. Other notes close in number to this one also have mulberry serial numbers. 01Y 088724 is a little less dark, pictured below.
