Carlow Bank, Henry Macartney, ca. 1804-1813

Post by DOC » 30 Mar 2019 15:37

Henry Macartney operated a private bank in Carlow in the early 1800’s. It is believed he took over as lead partner from John Bennett about 1804. Carlow Bank notes and post bills are rare and seldom offered for sale. A small group turned up recently at DNW and attracted much interest. The 1 Guinea & Half is the first recorded example of this denomination, scan attached.
