Generally, it will be seen that the number of £1 notes recorded relative to the other denominations is increasing.
This is to be expected in the long term, as smaller collections are added into the database.

We'll see what turns up in the Dublin Coin Fair in a few days' time.

£32 face value added to the census at the February Dublin Coin Fair this year, including an Ulster Bank £10 note in good Fine grade.

£1 x 12; £5 x 2; £10 x 1. FV = £32.

Breakdown is as follows:
BA x 7
HK x 1
MA x 2
NA x1, NK x 1
PA x 2
UT x 1

Additionally, images were added for a further 19 notes previously recorded without images being available at the time, one of these recorded 20 years ago.

March 2016: Total for March.
£1 x 15, £5 x 1 = £20 face value.

March starts off with two £1 notes recorded off a well known auction website. £2 in total.

EDIT 12.03.16:
A few newly recorded notes in the forthcoming DNW auction, and from a couple of sales lists. £8 in total:
BA x 6;
MA x 1;
NA x 1.

EDIT: 17.03.16:
Added NA x 1; NK x 1 = £6 face value.

The One Pound note extends the serial number bracket for 7.1.31 National Bank by nearly 50,000 notes, quite significant on a scarce date. It extends it well into the NA14 prefix, from highest being in NA13. A useful find.

EDIT: 29.03.16:
£1 x 4 notes added, all BA, including a nice fresh about EF, and a nice gVF.
Good to see Ploughmans turning up in this grade, hopefully no one will iron it!

I'll do a report on the numbers of notes seen in each grade soon. It should make for some interesting reading.

Smallish total for March.

April 2016: Total for April.
£1 x 56, £5 x 9, £10 x 3 = £131 face value.

The following were recorded, £9:
NA x 1
BA x 2
MA x 1

PK x 1

Whytes auction added the following, net to PSS:

£1 x 52, £5 x 8, £10 x 3 = £122 face value.

68 notes, new to the Ploughman Scan Survey (PSS) added from Whyte's The Eclectic Collector 2016 auction, on 14 May, 2016.
Breakdown as follows:
BA x 13, BK x 1;
MA x 6, MK x 1, MT x 2;
NA x 30, NK x 5;
PA x 2, PT x 1;
RA x 1, RK x 1.

There are also two £10 notes and seven £5 notes in the sale which are already recorded in PSS.

The lowest grade note is a National £10, heavily repaired, which has been up several times before, always reserved too high!

Among these notes is a Provincial Bank of Ireland £10 note with Kennedy signature. This is interesting, as it is one of the rarer notes, but also it is outside of the known run of 17.7.39 £10 notes. It is also well circulated, pointing to the possibility that all notes of this date were put into circulation, even though they were likely extraordinary issue.

The BoI £10 note is interesting here, in that I found a saved picture of it on my own computer! This is a note sold in a Whytes auction in 2001, grade is low, at Good with the note having mould damage throughout.

A very nice group of notes turned up in July in the Heritage Auctions. There are a lot of Hibernian £5 notes in this group, enough to upset the bank's rarity index relative to other banks. Throughout the course of PSS, the Hibernian Bank has steadily reduced in relative rarity, especially in the case of £10 notes and £5 notes as groups of notes from the bank turn up.

The proportion of £1 notes recorded relative to other denominations continues to grow slowly.

A report of PSS2016 data is in the 2017 edition of the Irish Banknotes catalogue which will be available in January 2017. There is also a recalculation of the estimate of surviving notes, based on the PSS data of actual recorded notes.

Mrch 2017: Total for March.
£1 x 8; £5 x 7; £10 x 1 = £53 face value.

PA x 1; BA x1; NA x 2; UA x 1 added so far.

14.03.17. HA x 1 added.
16.07.17. EK x 3, HK x 1, HT x 1 added. These are from another batch in a Heritage Auctions preview. More will likely follow.

Despite the fact that lots of Northern £5 notes have turned up over the past couple of years, the relative rarity of the Northern £5 notes to other Ploughman note types remains steady. Ploughmans in general are becoming less rare.

22.03.17. BA x 1, PA x 1, PK x 1 added. All are low grade notes seen on ebay.
24.03.17. HK x 2. More from the next Heritage offering.
