Re: Lowest Serial Numbers
Just looked at one of my £1 notes, and it has a quite low serial number. I cannot post a picture because of "Error: File too large". SN is 05L001561, and date is 21.4.75. Anyone have a lower one?

Re: Lowest Serial Numbers
I've seen very few really low numbers on Lavery notes, numbers under 10 say, except for 1928 notes.
Here's a number 1 that was in an auction a few years ago:

Re: Lowest Serial Numbers
I have recently acquired these 2 interesting Banknotes, which LOWER the known START Serial Number of an Issue.
1. TEN SHILLINGS 19.6.63 [20P 737937]
Extract from: Irish Banknotes: Irish Government Paper Money from 1928 (First Edition 1999)
PREVIOUS-
ISSUE: 226 Serial Number Range 3.1.62: 01P 000001 - 20P 317956
ISSUE: 227 Serial Number Range 19.6.63: 20P 932084 - 35P 580248
Extends the RANGE by (932,084 - 737,937 = ) 194,937
Gap Between Issues down to (737,937 - 317,956 = ) 419,981 (< 420,000)
2. ONE POUND 26.8.52 [21E 391838]
Extract from: Irish Banknotes: Irish Government Paper Money from 1928 (First Edition 1999)
PREVIOUS-
ISSUE: 233 Serial Number Range 11.9.51: 01E 192285 - 20E 351450
ISSUE: 234 Serial Number Range 26.8.52: 21E 406607 - 45P 339642
Extends the RANGE by (406,607 - 391,838 = ) 14,769
Gap Between Issues down to (391,838 - 351,450 = ) 40,388 (< 41,000)
Mac,
Do you have these 2 in the Database? - Do we have an available Table showing all the KNOWN up-to-date Ranges?

Re: Lowest Serial Numbers
The gaps between the serial number ranges are gradually filling in. I don't have an updated Table done showing date ranges—for the second edition I guess.
The most interesting gap, imho, is the gap between the Redmond fivers dated 3.5.54 and 24.10.55. There is a third date in there between the two, 15.9.55, with a very low printage, and no notes yet recorded.

45P 339642 is a typo here—the last prefix for this date would be 41N.

Re: Lowest Serial Numbers
£1 ONE POUND [see Page 225 IBIGPMFrom1928]
ISSUE: 234 Serial Number Range 26.8.52: 21E 406607 - 45E(not P) 339642
Don't think this was a typo QWERTYUIOP, more like Dyslexia (PEE sounds like E), my mistake - AND I DO proofread
10/~ TEN SHILLINGS [see Page 205 IBIGPMFrom1928]
Which brings up the question "Where did you get the Prefix 41N ?"
I take it you made reference to 10/~ rather than £1.
ISSUE: 221 Serial Number Range 22.10.52: 21N 110626 - 40N 291687
NEXT-
ISSUE: 222 Serial Number Range 19.10.55: 41N 211438 - 46N 939897
Does this mean that the range for 10/~ 22.10.52 has been observed to have extended to 41N xxxxxx ?
Regarding the Second Edition, I believe Pamela West is working on a second edition of
Paper Money of Ireland - The IBNS Book of the Year for 2010
