That's quite a nice example.
1943 is a very tough year for the £20, £50, and £100 notes.

A small group of 1943 £50 notes has turned up!
All of the notes are circulated, some of then being in quite low grade. The group covers all of the dates, and thus fills in an important gap in the census.

Here are images of two scarce £5 notes missing from the Irishpapermoney gallery. This leaves only 3 dates still to be accounted for to complete the entire set !

Irish Free State £100 notes issued in 1937 are rare and seldom seen in nice grade. This one appeared recently for auction at Stack’s Bowers and is one of the nicest examples known.

A very nice note to see turning up. This example is new to the census. One other nice example, in similar grade was sold in Sotheby's in 1995.

A superb example of a 100 Pound that usually turns up in low grade. The 1928 appears to be much more common than 1937 in GVF or better grade.

Not a mega-rarity but a nice example of the first postwar £5 note and a split prefix. Do we know where the split occurs? In PMI we have it between 78T 054873 (on 14.7.44) and 78T 078711 on 17.1.45.

Just sold in Heritage for USD252 including fees.

Yes.
From the Central Bank Archive, we know the last number for 14.7.44 - it is 78T 056000.
So 17.1.45 would start from 78T 056001.

The first sighting of a £50 dated 26.2.46 as far as I know.

Certainly the first example of the date I have seen!
Many thanks for that addition to the recorded dates.

This £50 note 26.2.46 was recently in a Lyn Knight auction in the US, graded at VF20 by Legacy (very much gilding the lily there, I think, looks more like a Fine range) – it appears to have sold for $400.
