Youghall Bank £1 signed by Giles. Date looks like 1800 or 1806. Anybody able to make it out?

It is difficult to read the date but I think it is 1808. I attach another example from 1809 where the date is easier to make out.

Here is a 1 Guinea & Half note issued by George Giles & Co. in 1809. The bank stamps are interesting: Five Quarters, August 25 1811; Six Quarters, November 1811 etc. The most likely explanation is that these quarters refer to 3 monthly intervals since the first bankruptcy filing. The stamps may be a record of payments made to the creditors at these time intervals.

Looks like there are 2 major designs for these bills. One has the block on the left with banker's names, the other has an oval with their initials in it.

This Youghall Bank ‘silver note’ for 6 shillings recently sold on ebay. It is the first example of this denomination seen to date for this bank.

Very interesting! Quite a few Giles & Co notes from Youghal has been recorded over the years, but no fractional ones until now. I think Youghal is spelt with one l nowadays, not as spelt by Mr Giles!

Even in such low grade, the sale price of 157.50 was a nice find for the buyer.
