Re: Ploughman Scan (PSS) banknote survey Data changelog
January 2019: Total for Jan: £1 x 42; £5 x 4; £10 x 2 = £72 Face value.
25.01.19: BA x 2; NA x 1. All seen on ebay
26.01.19
Added a record of an old collection of notes to PSS. Around 50% of the notes had not been recorded previously. Those that were previously recorded, were seen back in the 1990s.
Only a few copies of scans are available for these notes, the rest is as a list of serial numbers. Normally, such a record would at best be allowable as Missing Data, in this instance the source of the recording is absolutely reliable, so the list has been added to the main Dataset. With thanks to the contributors.
£1 x 39; £5 x 4; £10 x 2 = 45 notes, £69 FV
BA x 15; HA x 1, HK x 1; MA x 5, MK x 2; NA x 10, NT x 2; EK x 1; RA x 8
The Northern £5 note from this collection is interesting in that it is in sequence with a note that I recorded back around 2005 which is circulated, around VF. The note recorded back then was part of a group of notes (all recorded in 2005) sold four years ago.
It is also interesting that among these notes, two filled gaps within known runs of notes in sequence.
An allowance is made for adding in notes not seen out of a known sequence by means of Missing Data [missing at random, I use for this] when analysing the PSS recorded data. It is always nice to actually then record Missing Data items.
The other missing Data Variable which is included is that of notes known to exist but not recorded by number, such as a run in sequence of fifty or so Provincial Bank £5 notes which were produced at a show in Dublin around 2011. These cannot be included as primary data, as we don't have serial numbers, but can be included as Missing Data as I physically handled them! I await their return at a future show, where I shall be waiting with my phone camera.
