Wexford Bank, Richard Codd & Co. 1799-1810
Another bank known as ‘Wexford Bank’ was registered by merchant, Richard Codd, in 1799. The bank failed in 1810. Here is an example of a 1 guinea note issued in 1808.

The crest at the top left with the year split is based on Bank of Ireland notes of the time, not something we see often on private bank notes.

Yes, there is a striking similarity with Bank of Ireland 1 Guinea notes of the time.
There was also a Codd’s Bank in Enniscorthy registered in 1799 as Clementine Codd & Co. He appears to have been related to Richard Codd of Wexford. PMI reports the existence of an unissued £1 note with the year 181_. Kenny & Turner provides a date of 1812 for the failure of the bank which at that time had William Codd as lead partner.

Re: Wexford Bank, Richard Codd & Co. 1799-1810
A number of banks operated in Wexford town in the early 1800’s as summarised in the attachment. Few examples of their note issues survive. At first sight, this is surprising as some of the banks such as Redmond’s and Hatchell’s survived for a relatively long period of time. The lack of surviving notes suggests an orderly wind down for the longer lived banks and a small note issue for the shorter lived ones.

A good few banks there, all operating at the same time. I wonder if the Redmonds were related to each other.
A pity the notes of these banks are so rarely seen.
