Thomas and Richard Going founded a bank in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, which became known as The Nenagh Bank. The bank failed in December 1815 but the year of formation has yet to be clearly established. Kenny & Turner suggest 1810 but there is an earlier reference to the bank in 1809 which implies an earlier establishment date (Freeman’s Journal, 20th June 1809).
Banknotes and post bills are known to have been issued by The Nenagh Bank. Here is an example of a 3 Guineas post bill issued in 1814 listing Thomas Going and Richard Going as partners.

The Going's bank logo resembles that used on some notes of Hannington's Bank in Dungannon! I wonder if there was any connection, or if printers were inspiring each other.

Yes, there is a similarity between the Going's and Hannington's Bank logos. Riall's Bank also had a similar logo on some of its notes. The link here may be the engraver Martyn Sculp. He is not mentioned on the 3 Guineas Going's post bill but the similar style suggests he may have engraved it.

Here is an intriguing notice from 1811 relating to forgery of Nenagh Bank notes. The unfortunate, Thomas Hanrahan, was executed by hanging at Gallows Green in Limerick for passing notes of the bank, knowing them to be forged.

Life was tough for forgers in those days!
